Hennessy X.O. sponsored the talented Angela Stribling as the featured vocalist on the Hennessy X.O. Jazz Smooth and Mello Asia Tour, along with extraordinary New York based musicians: saxophonist Brooks Giles, pianist Oliver von Essen, drummer George Gray, and bassist Tom Hubbard.

Her star is quickly rising internationally, after sold out shows in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Taipai, Kaohsiung, Seoul, Bangkok, and recently Tokyo, Japan.

Angela's dynamic performances have earned her the honor of sharing the stage with the some of the world's most gifted musicians including the incomparible Stevie Wonder, Chaka Kahn, Najee, guitarist Mark Whitfield, and bassist Victor Bailey. One of Angela's highest honors was being invited as the vocalist to perform at a gala tribute for Congressman Charles Rangel hosted by former president, Bill Clinton, Robert DiNero, and Kevin Spacey.

This is the CD for you if you like Soul, Jazz and R&B. You'll find a fresh approach to standards like "You Don't Know What Love Is," and "Teach Me Tonight." And a very pretty rendition of the Emotions '70's hit, "Show Me How."
Although she is often compared with artists Phyliss Hyman, Erykah Badu, and Sade, her warm, sensual, smoky voice, together with unique phrasing and spirit provoking lyrics, firmly establish Angela's originality.

Angela is a native of Buffalo, New York and discovered her passion for singing at the age of 4. Vocally trained in jazz and classical studies. She hones her skills in New York City at various venues including The Blue Note, The Rainbow Room, The Supper Club, and The Soul Cafe.

When listening to "Angela Stribling...Live!" you get the feeling of actually being front and center at The Blue Note in New York City as members of the audience get a chance to join in on the first tune, "Fever." The final guest on Fever is the masterful Stevie Wonder, who not only sings amazingly, but throws in a little free style humor. Band members: Gary Grainger on bass, Greg Grainger drums, Benjie Porecki piano, Gali Sanchez percussion, Marshall Keys saxophone.

Angela sings a sultry, soulful rendition of "My Funny Valentine" where trumpeter Joey Morant feverishly conveys that same emotion. George Gray joins the band on drums.

"I Can Still Feel You" is a beautiful, emotive song written for friend and former co-host on BET, Melvin Lindsey. By the way, Melvin created The Quiet Storm radio format. She wrote the song after Melvin passed away tragically from the AIDS Virus. This is one of the most requested songs at live performances.

"Voice Seduction" is an original tune written by Charlie Jones, Elise Perry and Angela. It's a sweet, playful song about falling in love with someone just by the sound of their voice.

"WITHIN"
A smooth blend of Hip Hop and R&B, "Within" is a perfect reminder that we have everything that we need to be joyful, healthy, and abundant, right inside of ourselves. The "Interlude" is from President Nelson Mandela's Inaugural Speech and it sets up this song nicely. The voices in the interlude are all Angela..Lyrics by Angela Stribling. If the picture looks familiar to you, it could be because of her stellar television career. As host of "Screen Scene" on BET, she was the network's entertainment news anchor interviewing luminaries in the television and film industry. She also appeared in several films and television shows including Buena Vista Picture's "The Distinguished Gentlaman" starring Eddie Murphy.

With a lifelong love for jazz, Angela was an obvious choice when it was time for BET to launch their 24hour jazz network, BET Jazz. Angela not only complied, but was the key host for several of the fledgling network's programming, including Jazz Central, Jazz Scene, and Jazz Discovery.

Angela is one of the most sought after voices in the country. Her professional credits include television and radio campaigns for Mercedes-Benz, Prudential Financial, and US Airways. ANGELA STRIBLING ...LIVE! is sure to please and make your temperature rise. Throughout this CD, Ms. Stribling's seductive voice shows range in tone and style, and from start to finish she is backed up by a host of great musicians who perfectly compliment her versatility. She begins with delicious jazzy renditions of the Peggy Lee hit FEVER, the classic MY FUNNY VALENTINE and TEACH ME TONIGHT. She continues to deliver (reminiscent Phyllis Hyman) on YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT LOVE IS and on her own composition I CAN STILL FEEL YOU. I was equally impressed with another original song entitled WITHIN and last but not least, I was totally blown away by her sultry and harmonic vocals on the final track "SHOW ME HOW (reminiscent The Emotions). Overall, I would say that the Angela Stribling "sound" represents a mature blend of Sexy Jazz, Smooth Jams and Classy Soul. She has a distinctive voice that is refreshing to hear in music today and I surely hope to hear more from her in the future. Become a Fan (like me).... BUY this CD.
Just the music I needed

In this time and age where music is being pimped by artists and their record companies, new releases don’t move me anymore and al my turntable sees is old vinyl ...there comes Angela Stribling...a real artist making music for the soul. Her touching voice embraces you right from track one: a sensual interpretation of ‘Fever’ (together with the legendary Stevie Wonder!). Next to some more great covers of soul and jazz standards like ‘Use me’ and ‘My funny Valentine’, Angela and her terrific band perform songs of her own. My abosolute favorite is the emotional ‘I can still feel you’, a beautifull song, especially for those who lost a loving person in their life. The Stribling original 'Voice Seduction' is a nice bridge between vocal Jazz and modern day R&B. My advise: check out Angela Stribling, you won’t regret!

I listen to a lot of music. All kinds. This CD appeals to me mostly because her voice is very unusual. It's warm, and it makes me feel really good when I listen to it. I put the music on and I can't stop bopping my head and smiling,like I'm right there in the audience. I'm not a reviewer, but I am a young woman who appreciates other confident women who aren't afraid to take chances. I look forward to hearing more of her songs. This CD is very cool.
