Striding Lion was founded in Chicago in 2001 by a group of artists from different disciplines who sought to create a truly interdisciplinary style of performance—created from the ground up by musicians, choreographers, theater artists, visual artists and writers. In the last seven years, Striding Lion has created and produced a long series of brilliant, critically acclaimed original performances in the Windy City.

Birdsongs is their first full-length album, and their music is as unique as the eclectic, kinetic, joyous performances for which Striding Lion is known. This first release from the new Striding Lion Music imprint, headed by the producer of Birdsongs, Ben Berg Wilson, is a mind-melting mixture of acoustic and electric, organic and electronic, ecstatic and agonic; it is a concept album for the 21st century.
