Album Notes

String Bee

John O’Hara - Hammered Dulcimer, Vocals
Steve Quenneville - Guitar, Vocals
Dave Liddy - Piano, Vocals

String Bee has been together as a group since December 1988 and they continue to enjoy performing as each opportunity presents itself.

Their musical influences include Traditional and Contemporary acoustic music as well as Irish, Delta Blues, Swing, Bluegrass and Ragtime. All three musicians use those styles to compose original music.

John plays one of the many professional “Blackhawk Dulcimers” he has built and the sound compliments the lead voice of Steve’s acoustic guitar as well as Dave’s rhythmic piano playing.

String Bee recorded “Cross Pollination” in 1991, “Simple Clarity” in 1995 and recently recorded 13 new songs for the 2004 release of “Alive from the Hive”.

Wonderful music from 3 talented artists

Knew Steve and Dave as the drivers of the Mossback Mule band that played at our wedding reception almost 28 years ago. A whole new spin for the artists showing just how versile they are. There talent continues to amaze me. Thanks for a wonderful CD.

This CD sounds great. I really enjoy the neighborly feel of this music. My favorite song, and one to remember is One Thin Dime.

I got the CD yesterday, listened and enjoyed it very much. Opening with a stride tune was a nice surprise. The ensemble interplay is excellent and the recording and performance are first rate.

I'm enjoying the CD immensely. The songs are strong and the group is creative and plays well together. The acoustic guitar sound is excellent and it's a pleasure to hear the hammered dulcimer.
