He traces his humble beginnings back to junior high. These were awkward years for everybody, but in learning guitar Joshua discovered a medium by which to express his creativity and relate to others. “I was shy about singing in front of people, but that didn’t stop me from squeaking my way through songs in the basement”—he says with a smile—“through the influence of my brother, Michael, I learned how to improvise and be comfortable with spontaneity; it opened up a whole new world to me.” Since then he has been honing his songwriting abilities, in an effort to bridge the gap between audience and performer.
