Album Notes

These El Paso, TX rockers build on their world-beat and hip-hop sound with Cuban percussion, gospel harmonies, a dobro, and mellow horns, delivering the impossible: a rock album with love songs that make you want to dance.

Subrosa Union’s music is wholly original, but listen for hints of influences as diverse as Carlos Santana, Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, and Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Subrosa Union is currently touring the U.S. to promote their debut album, “Looking Forward,” released by Austin indie label Fugamundi Records.

Subrosa Union has opened for nationally touring acts like Slightly Stoopid, Pepper, Long Beach Short Bus, Authority Zero, reggae visionaries Third World, and the MTV Caffeine Tour with Carmen Electra at venues like Stubb’s Amphitheater in Austin and the Knitting Factory in Hollywood.

“Looking Forward” was recorded at Austin’s historic Flashpoint Studios in the 6th Street district with co-producer R.W. Rushing and engineer The East Side Flash.

Subrosa Union is a trio featuring Michael Anaya – vocals and guitar; Chris Paulos – bass and MC; and Paul Valenzuela – drums. www.subrosaunion.com
