Album Notes

Formed by Guitarist Rik Mercaldi & Drummer Mike Roze, and together for over 10 years, playing an eclectic brand of Rock & Roll with influences ranging from '60 British "Mod" to '70's New York Punk as well as a penchant for live improvisation. After performing as a duo around NYC, bassist Mike Curry joined the band in time to record their first album. In 1998 the band released a self titled debut "The Subterraneans" followed by a five song E.P "5 Tracks". The band has appeared on numerous compilations including a Dogs D'Amour Tribute titled "Bullet Proof Poems". Their last CD "Close To Real" was released in 2007. Since the departure of bassist Mike Curry, The Subterraneans name has been retired and Rik Mercaldi & Mike Roze continue to work together in a variety of musical projects, most recently on Rik's self titled solo release, also available on CD Baby. A collection of acoustic based songs recorded and produced by Juano Lippi.
