ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Sapphire Seed is a project that came from a collaboration between two musicians with a common vision. Callisto Nerezza had been playing guitar for years and already had a dozen complete songs under his belt by the time Gabriel Luciano joined his efforts. Always feeling his songs needed a "band" to be complete, Callisto never followed through with his work by bringing it to the studio. It was only when percussionist Gabriel fell in love with the songs and brought structure and power to the compositions that Such Handsome Silver took flight. The duo went straight into recording the pieces. After laying down the first guitar, vocals and djembe tracks, the music had a solid feel. The stripped down and raw sound was what they had intended but it did not last. Each track was an opportunity to expand on these songs that had been in Callisto's head for years. For the album recordings there is an array of added lead guitar, secondary percussion, backing vocals and various other melodies that pushes the music further into the complexity that already marked it as it's own. The writing for all this accompanying instrumentation follows the original ideas that brought the two members together. Focused completely on authenticity and singularity, the band taps into original sounds and rhythms. So the desire to create artwork that was fresh and free from tired inspirations was realized. The first and shortest song on the album, "The Brighter the Water" introduces the listener to the sorrowful and reflecting tendencies that are a continual feel throughout. Even songs like, "Idols With Lashes" and "Chamber of Roses" that bring a brighter tone to the table, never totally depart from the intensity and haunting moods that make the album what it is. These two old friends have managed to chronicle their individual journeys into expression with a unity, passion and unique flavor that can't be found anywhere else.
