Album Notes

The lyrics then go out the door when the whole song becomes a language in and of itself.

The album, Nunca Ganare (I Will Never Win) once again brings you the warm voice of Rene S. and is written and performed with both English and Spanish music. With a romantic twist. The origin of the lyrics on this album surprisingly weren't written mostly for and about another person, but were inspired for and from the light that animates our lives. (If you can understand that, you've gone a long way in understanding Rene's music). That's why the lyrics ring out that tone of sacrifice many times. And this may explain why not all the songs on this album are about romance, but a few times about self realizations and self knowledge.

---------------- So The Story Goes...
Well I was broke for as long as I can remember and I finally finished my latest music! I was meaning to register it and all, because I know it's a sin not to invest in your very own talent. 2 years pass and still broke. Usually when I get money it's already set to spend on some necessary thing, so the cd just sat there. Tic toc tic toc. So I get fed up and go ahead and sell my car for how much!!??? 200$ yup, practically free. Forget the car I'm getting on with my life! Feels good.
So right when I got the money to register my music I come up with some new lyrics to new music. So there I am rushing to record it, edit it, record it again, fix, adjust and finish it. I also found many mistakes from previous music already on the cd, so I fix all that too. And I'm in a hurry because I know those 200$ aren't gonna last very long. But I don't sacrifice the quality of my music for anything. I do the best with what I've got, which is not much - A mic, a 400$ sound card, my old computer, Spanish guitar, a Cuban tres, that I acquired during a trip to Houston Texas, and my voice. Not to mention patience n time and all that. But anyways that's the tail end of the story before my CD got out! Now I'm back to the same routine and have some extra time. If you're still reading, most of my lyrics are about love. And I mean the real thing which is total sacrifice. The end of "I". That's what Love is. Yes, most of my songs seemingly are written to a certain Woman, and I must admit some of them are written to Women in my past, but in the mix it's not the Woman who inspire the lyrics, it's the idea of sacrifice that inspire. Yet I don't want my CD to sound religious so as you can tell by the lyrics there is a sort of religious sacrifice intertwined in there with the idea of the relationship of a Woman. When I write my music, I know that I'm writing about very personal thoughts, but that's what I want you to have. I want you to feel that I am talking to you by ourselves. I think that THAT is what art is, the bare soul for every one to see. I wouldn't have it any other way. I know what people love, they love porn, not just a pretty face. And so my music is my soul shamelessly and carelessly placed out there in public. I have to write as if I'm alone and I'm the only judge.
The title Nunca Ganare (which means I will never win in spanish) came to me by 3 different paths. Or rather it symbolizes 3 different things to me personally. The first thing that it means to me is that when Truth is witnessed then Truth will always win and I will never win against it. The second thing that it means to me is that beauty of a Woman that I try to resist and I just simply can't, and so I never win against the beauty of her. And the 3rd meaning that it carries for me is the idea that that word has and how it's taught in our schools to win. There is no such thing as winning or even losing. So, to me, winning is a negative idea that should be tossed away and is also an idea that capitalists use to move the masses to put fear in them. There fore the song "In This Life" was written.
