SUCIO is one of worlds hottest Spanish rappers set to change the hip-hop music genre. Originally from Lancaster, a city in Philadelphia's inner city, Sucio, moved to Miami, Florida in 1996. In 1997, Sucio teamed up with producer/manager, Big Al who had a vision of producing a Spanish, bilingual and English rap artist all in one.They created a partnership that has lasted over 6 years of hard work, discipline and dedication, resulting in the formation of the artist and production team called Frontline Recordings and record label, Bumrush Records. The year 2003, would become their step into the BIG TIME.
2003 is the year Sucio became a name in the Latin Music World. In the early part of the year, Sucio, known then as P-Dirty, provided rap vocals for a BMG US Latin album of the legendary Cuban singer, Beny More entitled "The King of Son". The first single featuring his rap vocals, Bonito Sabroso 2003, was on Billboard's salsa tropical radio and appeared in various regional charts throughout the US and Puerto Rico. The single received radio play around the country and was number one on Miami's El Zol 95.7 FM and Salsa 98.3.
With Sucio being the main character and focus in the music video, Bonito Sabroso 2003 was the #1 Latin video on HTV and Mun2 video networks for several months. The video was also an AOL Music Latin video of the week and can be seen on that website.
According to the producer of the Beny More album, Jason Klein - "Sucio's rap vocals and appearance on the video was the spark that made Bonito y Sabroso 2003 such a big hit. It was a real pleasure working with him and would do it again in a heartbeat". The second track featuring Sucio from the album, Santa Isabel De Las Lajas 2003, has already been receiving radio play.
The success of Bonito y Sabroso 2003 allowed Sucio to gain a significant amount of notoriety, media exposure, and other music opportunities. He was featured on several television interviews including the show Ritmo y Sabor, and on arbitron-rated radio shows on Miami for "El Zol 95.7 FM and Salsa 98.3, and on Northbay Radio in California. He also gained exposure on internet websites including lamusica.com. and by co-hosting a TV show entitled Up-To Beat Latino. He has also been tapped for the lead role in the Rhino Films movie, TUMBE which will be released spring of 2005.
With the momentum rising, Bumrush Records licensed several of Sucio's tracks to hip hop compilations of Protel Records, which is distributed by Universal Music. The compilation titles include Hip-Hop En La Calle Ocho and Spanglish Fly. Three more compilations came out in late 2003 and early 2004 under Universal/Guitian entitled, La Quimica, La Lirica, and DJ Crystal Presents Spanish Hip Hop. out at the beginning of 2004.
During August of 2003, Bumrush releases Sucio's promotional CD, and embarked on a promotional tour of New York ending successfully with a performance at closing day at Orchard Beach. The promo reached various DJ's and record pools across the country. At one point, Sucio had 3 tracks on the V.I.P, Chicago Record Pool chart.
On Dec. 12, 2003 after months of discussion, Bumrush Records licensed Sucio's debut album "Sombras Del Juego/Shades of The Game," the biggest joint venture to bring out Spanish Hip-Hop under the labels of Universal/Guitian Brothers. Sucio steps into another level.
Bumrush is given the authority to handle all matters concerning the album, graphics, promotion, etc. The album is scheduled to come out on Feb. 24, 2004. A week before the album drops, Bumrush has a problem with Universal Records.Universal english found out that Universal Latino along with Guitian Brothers/Bumrush is releasing an artist called P-Dirty, which is close to the artist name P-Diddy. BIG AL suggested that the name of P-Dirty be change to Sucio, as well as in the recordings, and Universal/Guitian agreed to all the flyers, posters, demos, etc. of P-Dirty to the new name Sucio.
By changing the name, it also caused the album date to be pushed back to March 30, 2004. Sucio has appear on national television on programs such as the Roof, Mun 2, LATV, Channel 30 Puerto Rico, Jamz, Ritmo y Sabor. He would also appear in popular magazines including, In The House Magazine, Latinos Unidos Record Pool Magazines, articles in the Source, and Billboard's special edition on Hip Hop as well as a feature of R&R Magazine and Vibe.
Sucio's first single, "Sonando" has a video that is outstanding. The video will be aired in just about all of the Latin TV stations the week of April 12, 2004. He has four jingles on Sol 95.7 (Spanish) and jingles on Power 96.5, which is starting to get airplay during the Powermix in English. "Sonando," the video, is on rotation in U.S.,Columbia,Puerto rico Domenican Republic,etc. Sucio is currently working on a Spanish hip-hop mix tape later to be released in the month of April, first of its kind and can be found at SUCIOENT.COM !
Sucio is well known in the Spanish Hip-Hop as well as in the Reggeaton world having done shows and been involved in radio and tv interviews with well-known reggeaton artists.Sucio has started touring doing shows in cities like Miami,New York,Chicago,San Diego,San Fransisco and still counting.
