notes

Sue DaBaco and Wise Fools has quickly become one of the most entertaining and popular blues/rock acts in Southeastern Wisconsin. With just 3 years under their belt, they flaunt a fresh approach to the classic blues/rock genre, creating a straight forward explosive and eclectic mix of sounds unrivaled since Hendrix! Their commitment to providing quality entertainment for their audiences is not only exemplary but has already landed the band continual spots at Summerfest, a multitude of county fairs and outdoor festivals, and of course many return gigs from clubs throughout the state.

In addition, Sue has played professionally in Chicago for the last 15 years with Buzz Kilman—a high profile radio personality and she has since been recognized in the industry as one of the Blues top blistering lead playing female guitarists in the country. She's opened for national acts such as Peter Frampton, Dave Mason, Eddie Money, Jefferson Starship, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Lonnie Brooks, Koko Taylor, .38 Special and has shared the recording studio with Joe Walsh of the Eagles.

Currently, she worked with Mike Hoffmann of EIEIO to produce this current CD Voodoo Juice, and has also accompanied Mike with Victor DeLorenzo (Violent Femmes) on Julia Francis'(indie artist) yet to be released CD.

Now Sue and the guys wish to take their explosive new act into other areas and share their unique mind-bending and exciting show nationally. With Sue DaBaco fronting this heavy three-piece unit in addition to her high-energy performances you can expect a top-notch, melt-your-face-off, blues without borders experience.

One word describes audience reaction after a Wise Fool's show: WOW!!

More of a review of their performance at the Paramount Blues Festival in Grafton, WI 9-2007. Both the CD and the live performance are unmatched. Sue & the Wise Fools truly melted the faces off of eager Blues fans. The CD parallels the live performance intensity. Listening to VooDoo Chile and remembering Sue wirelessly strolling through the audience swingin' that axe is amazing. Get it today!

  • Fabulously Diverse and Beautifully Intense!!

I came across this web page on CD baby by accident and thought what the heck, I'll give it a listen. MAN!! I'm glad did! This band's music is so delightfully honest and gutsy that I bought it right away. You don't hear this kind of authenticity and soul in the major markets anymore. . .that's for sure. PICK THIS UP! I promise you will not be disappointed! The music is fresh, the guitar playing sublime and the band is tight! Check out Voodoo Chile, the only cover on this CD. . .this is a GREAT version--different from SRV's OR Jimi's, and still maintains the spirit and integrity of the song.

  • Great music - Way too much compression
    author: JC

Listening to the tunes online, I just had to get this CD. Sue is an awesome awesome guitarist and singer. But after I bought ordered it and listened to it, I was disappointed in the production, mostly because of what sounds like HUGE compression on the final master. The mix on most of the songs is quite good, but why must they try to make the recording sound like FM radio on steroids. No dynamics, no room for any punch, and very in your face like someone screaming at you constantly. I removed the CD from my player after the first three songs, disgusted. I later listened to the rest and what a shame to ruin such fantastic writing and playing with a recording technique designed only to make a recording louder, but definitely not better. So I give Sue 5 stars and the recording 1.

Fresh, classic, and powerful. A wonderful experience to have went thru. Outstanding musicians: Great axework, and a groovy rhythm section. Catchy songwriting.
