Album Notes

“... part jazz, part rock-a-billy and part undefinable. If given a listen, Suede Baby could easily become Chris Isaak’s and Brian Setzer’s favorite new band.”
~ Town Life (excerpt from an article by Catherine Carey)

Bio:

SUEDE BABY is an acoustic/electric collective of four pieces. Their debut CD “Sugar” was recently released into the world of indie-pop. Sophisticated yet accessible, their sound is inspired by jazz standards, R&B, Americana & roots music. The sultry vocals & thoughtful lyrics of Kristen Freyja Solberg & the exceptional guitar work of Nick Hall weave the front end of this ensemble. The two compose the foundation of their original music, while Kyle Bonderson on drums & Sigurd (Sig Daddy) Nordskog on bass round out the groovin' backbone.

Press:

Sultry vocals, haunting melodies and a yearning for unspoken dreams come to mind when listening to Suede Baby. The four-piece band - built around White Bear Lake guitarist Nick Hall and Minneapolis vocalist Kristen Freyja Solberg - is part jazz, part rock-a-billy and part undefinable. If given a listen, Suede Baby could easily become Chris Isaak’s and Brian Setzer’s favorite new band. With Suede Baby’s richly-layered originals and creative interpretations of pop and jazz standards, there is no doubt the band is going places.
~ Town Life (excerpt from an article by Catherine Carey)

“Suede Baby is always a draw and crowd pleaser ... These talented musicians capture the audience’s attention with an upbeat, smooth and sexy sound,” said MaryJo VanDell of Northern Vineyards Winery. “They’re very entertaining to watch and listen to as they interact and complement each other on stage.”
~ Town Life (excerpt from an article by Catherine Carey)

“Suede Baby is the favorite at Stillwater’s Fine Art and Jazz Festival. Their smooth sound has a quality of familiarity that draws you in.” Kate Vichich, Historic District Committee Co-Chair, and “simply a fan.”
~ Town Life (excerpt from an article by Catherine Carey)

Suede Baby is hard to categorize musically, but with a new album coming, and the possibility of branching out its concert venue locations, it’s sure to be a band to watch in the future. The band that names jazz, country and rock-and-roll as influences has been a household name in Stillwater and several cities in the east metro area for the past three years. ~ St. Croix Valley Press (excerpt from an article by Jay Stephenson)
