"Such A Girl As I", nominated for a King Eagle Music Trailblazer Award, this album really does blaze new trails with its blend of old and new country. Each song has been written from a real life experience and performed by some of Nashville's premier artists. It is not a 'crying in your beer' album.
The introduction is a firm publicity statement. It is a good lead-in to the business part of music.
However, it does not touch the heart and soul of the birth of this album, born of pain, of life and of death
In her search for birthparents, in her tumultuous first marriage and ultimate divorce, in the joy of the birth of her children, in her search for healing, she has experienced life's highs and lows like many of us have.
But the difference is that she has put her life and spirit into her music so that others may be able to find peace.
The love of her life, husband Bobby Bates, is her companion and friend. Together they now live in TN, near Nashville, and enjoy breeding and raising Arabian and American Indian Horses. They have worked hard together to put their feelings into song and music.
They, and others like them, struggle with the knowledge that when they release an album the public at large gets a chance to view their soul. They are putting themselves in a position to be criticized and/or acclaimed. The ordinary working person can relate to the pain and joy that are in every word and in every note.
Independently of each other, both Sue and Bobby have a lifetime of music. Sue was playing guitar at fourteen, having taught herself. Bobby has won national recognition as a harmonica player. Brought together during the production of this album, they have combined their life learning and have offered this album for the enjoyment of their friends and friends not yet met.
A glance at the musicians who worked with them on this project is like reading a "Who's Who" in Nashville. But this album isn't about what names you might recognize, and you will, it is about life, love and living.

I liked the heart felt way that you sing your songs. You put yourself in the picture that you paint with each song. I also enjoyed the great musicians that played on the CD and the background vocals.
I would love to know which studio you used? I would seriously think about using it for some of my upcoming work. Who are your musicians? They are real pros in my book. A truly great album to be proud of. I enjoyed reading your reviews. I hope that others will take the time to read your reviews. ~ Judy Compton ~ South Carolina

A wonderful mix of traditional and new country.
author: Steve McArthur
This album is a collection of original songs (written by the artist) and is a delightful mix of traditional and untraditional country styles. Ms. Gilmore's voice is a pleasure to listen to and rivals many well-known female artists in the Nashville tradition. The instrumentation is absolutely first-rate. Several songs would do very well on the mainstream country charts.
