Album Notes

This album came together over the course of about one year...it was recorded by and engineered by Stefan Andrews and Sugarcane, mastered at Super Digital and released here in Portland Oregon on June 18th 2011...the art work was photographed by Jeremy Running at the Delta Cafe' in Portland Oregon and designed by Stefan Andrews and Sugarcane...we want to thank everyone who helped make this album happen and you for taking an interest...Thanks guys! Go team! a little bit about the boys....Sugarcane is led by the soulful, powerful, and charismatic singer/songwriter Russel James who has toured the byways of the United States for the last 17 years. "Big E," as Russel is lovingly nicknamed, is an Indiana-grown songwriting prodigy who gives the band a "Country Gentleman" touch. On the drum set is the road-tested soul and expertise of Josh Biggs, a talented, song-sensitive drummer who has played with the Neville Brothers and Higher Ground to name a few. On the bass is the uber-talented Stefan Andrews. Reminiscent of Rick Danko but with a bluegrass flair, Stefan has a compelling voice and is also a principal songwriter for the group. On mandolin is Derek Hofbauer, a powerful player whose personality gives the band a comedic and entertaining edge. Derek is truly one of a kind. Rounding out the band is Noah Bell on lead guitar. Hailing from Springfield, Missouri, Noah is one of Portland's finest guitarists and amazes audiences with his skill and technical prowess whether with the slide, acoustic, or one of his many Telecasters. To sum up, Sugarcane is a fine group of gentlemen and a damn good band. Come see and hear for yourself!
