Album Notes

The Sugarplum Fairies are less of a formal band than a shifting cast of musicians assembled by Los Angeles based songwriter duo Ben Bohm and Silvia Ryder.

Both Bohm and Ryder were born and raised in Vienna, Austria and the creative influence of this capital can be felt strongly in the band's distinctive sound.

Their music is laced with surreal images that seem to be part dream diary, part coded messages and part cynical observations.

Ryder's intense vocals - which evoke comparisons to the late chanteuse Nico of The Velvet Underground - are the complex instrument that weaves textures of classical cello with the more alternative sound of vintage guitars.
