Atmospheric and intimate music inspired by old movies, singing cowboys and hypnotic torch songs. Cool, dark and spacious, like "beautiful melodies telling you terrible things."

notes

Redland is co-produced by guitarist and composer David Goodrich (Peter Mulvey, Erin McKeown, Jeffrey Foucault). Their friendship was formed while they played in the original rock band Groovasaurus, winners of two Boston Music Awards and voted Boston Magazine's Best Rock Band (1998).

Anita has performed and recorded with many bands and songwriters, most recently with Jeffrey Foucault, Tim Gearan, Peter Mulvey, Chris Smither and Noam Weinstein. Lately, she performs with her friend Bruce Millard (The Howard Armstrong Band), and with her band Shwang. She currently lives in the Boston area where she writes, sings and teaches music.

"Suhanin sings like a more-nimble k.d.lang, gracefully soulful and impeccably tight; she grabs hold of a melody and doesn't let go until she's good and finished with it." (Joan Anderman, Boston Globe)

"...we're haplessly, hopelessly in love with the sultry voice of Anita Suhanin..." (Boston Magazine)

If you like beautifully sung, idiosyncratic, independent music (think Jeff Buckley), this is a great choice.
