Album Notes

Blood brothers Victor and Pere Puertas have been performing together for more than ten years, also sharing the stage with every blues musician in their city, Barcelona, Spain. But it is not only in Spain where they have been performing, these two brothers left to the States to experience and play the blues next to great blues musicians like (R.I.P) Gary Primich, Lavelle White, and have shared their music with Steve James, Paul Rishell and Annie Raines, the Keller Borthers and Jerry Portnoy among some others. That may be one of the reasons why, when one listens to Pere’s strong singing and Victor’s talented and tasteful harmonica, is hard to believe that they are not native American bluesmen.

‘Walk On’ is their new imaginative and fresh, but classic sounding recording that includes besides the 12 tracks, quicktime videos of two of the songs on the record ‘Where were You’ and ‘I’d Rather Drink Muddy Water’ this last one with the whole band, plus featuring great blues guitarist Amadeu Casas, the spanish T-Bone.

The Suitcase Brothers, Pere Puertas on guitar and vocals and Victor Puertas on Harmonica, piano and vocals, wisely combine on this new recording duo songs, and Band cuts with Blas Picón on drums and Ivan Kovasevic on the double bass, both members of the reputable blues band The Lazy Jumpers.

Their deep knowledge and love for the blues music is easily noticed on this tasteful recording, where their original material sounds as good as those classics covers!

Their first record was tittle ‘Living with the Blues’ and was released in 2002.

“The Suitcase Brothers own something musically inexplicable, maybe the most suitable word is character. They both have experienced it in Austin, Texas, where I met them together with some of the best blues musicians in the world.”
Michael Linder – Singer from Caledonia Blues Band

“Thick resonant tone, perfect attack, lovely vibrato and a beautiful flow of ideas that are just right for the song you're playing. You've really got it and, by the way, your brother plays great guitar too.”
Jerry Portnoy
