Album Notes

Andrue Sullivan's songcraft stems from a desire to create original music that is refreshing and innovative, and which establishes that special performer/audience connection so unique to the art of music. This becomes clear to anyone in attendance at his performances. Andrue's songs are full of wandering, mournful melodies, delivered by a powerful voice that ranges from the smoothest touch to stratospheric roars. The beginnings of his style are magnificently demonstrated in this debut EP, Love Prophecies.

Here we are allowed a good look at an artist who is on the path of developing a unique voice as a songwriter. These intimate arrangements consist only of Andrue and his guitar, and are clearly written to stir the heart. Though indeed complete in themselves, the songs here sometimes seem to strive against the boundaries of the sparse arrangements. Perhaps that is part of their charm. Nevertheless, these boundaries are well broken through for his subsequent LP release, A Breath In Two.

Love Prophecies, which gained Andrue a prestigious Featured Artist spot at JeffBuckley.com's Peyote Radio Theater, is not only a collection of beautiful songs in its own right; it is also a very impressive point of departure for an especially talented artist.

emotional blend poured out through gorgeous vocals
author: Andrew Gieseke
Get this CD and listen to it. support this man and follow him. His potential and talent is extremely apparent in this album. no I-IV-V pop chords but developed streamline of chords that create a musical progress. His lyrics are beautiful and poetic, they move with the music and float through his powerful vocal sighs. some moments are dreamy and some moments intense but please check this cd out. I didn't give it 5 because there is room to grow here and his influences are still quite apparent but this is his first album and a solo one at that. Don't miss out on being one of the first to hear this guy.

A superb work, from a gifted up and coming songwriter
author: Chad B.
Intimacy and music, is something that is hard to find intertwined, in today's emotionally numb music scene. This independent musician, on his debut EP, connects these two forces, and generates something so beautiful. From the opening sung words of "My Lover", the voice of this musician simply puts shiver down your spine, immediately making you think of another great vocalist of a few years past, Jeff Buckley. His guitar, is the only other instrument that accompanies Andrue on this album, serving as just a melodic, and rhythmic backdrop to a voice, that will cut through millions of souls, very shortly. Every song on this 5 song set is strong, getting better with each listen, and oozing with wretched emotion and honesty. This is as near to perfect, as an EP will get. Please do yourself a favor, and purchase this great work now...If you love great, emotionally expressive and connecting music, you will adore this album...

a voice, a guitar, a glimpse of something different
author: Cliffdancer
This reviewer gives four stars, instead of five, because she wants more. I encourage all folk of musical intelligence to give this disc a try. Love Prophecies, at least for me, is not car music; nor is it something I listen to while doing something else. It is a work which demands your attention--because that's what we have here: a Work. Andrue is a tease because Love Prophecies is so short. However, he does not hesitate to give his all in composition as well as execution. Andrue blows all tentative rock songwriters out of the water, not just in lyrical content, but in melody, chord choices, and time signature choices. One wonders if a longer disc might be too much to handle, in the face of that soaring voice and that tightly harnessed electric guitar. Andrue's song is true, his path an interesting one--you'll find no radio-friendly drivel here, only that strange and poignant mixture of sadness, beauty, and intensity that Andrue has to offer. If you pay attention, you'll truly get something back from the time you give listening to Love Prophecies. Try it now, while you're here, and with any luck you'll hear what I mean.
