Album Notes

We recorded this album in a school classroom over the coarse of a week. It was the culmination of 6 years of music making with professional musicians, students, friends, and family. The group is made up of westerners that were brought up on jazz, funk, rock and classical, along with indians from both the Hindustani and Carnatic music traditions. Finding the common thread that connects us all was the biggest challenge when recording this album. Honoring tradition, heritage, and the vast skill set that everyone brought to the table was a labor of love, and it shows in the music. It is all summed up in the title 'Mandali', which simply means 'circle of friends'. Take a listen and join our Mandali!
