Album Notes

This compilation was scheduled to be the first release from Summer Break Records, a statement of purpose and a call to arms. We were really interested in letting people know there was a "scene" here (still is, and it's still getting better). Though we did release some other cds first (putting together a good compilation is harder than you might think) this disc still serves as an introduction to the label and the best bands in Dallas (and a couple from Austin, and one who's moved to New York). You may have heard of the Old 97's or the Deathray Davies but thats a shame really as you should come to this fresh and new and be amazed by the breadth and scope of the talent without already having a favorite. I know that my favorite changes from day to day and I can still listen to the whole thing (ask anyone in this business if they can listen to something they put together, and if they are honest most will tell you no, you listen to it so much [over and over and over again] when you are doing it that you get tired of it, but I still truly love and listen to this compilation). So I guess the only other thing is the title, there's this little diner here in Dallas that has a sign that reads "Suny Teriyaki Hamburger Breakfast" and I thought boy, what a great name for a collection of songs. I've never eaten there but I hear their burgers are very tasty. One of these days I'll have to try one. If you want to know about the individual bands or where to see them or buy more from Summer Break please visit our website or e-mail me, I'll be glad to help.

How can you resist an album with the source of "Summer Break Records"? If there was ever an all-hit album where every track raised the ceiling with super fly songwriting and the essence of 3 months of freedom, from various Pop species to Alt country to blistering Americana, this is it. What makes "Sunny Teriyaki Hamburger Breakfast" particularly riveting is that it compiles the talents of notable bands like the Old 97s, the Deathray Davies, Happiness Factor, Chonksy, Ranchero Brothers and many more. Why expend your energy making your own mix when you can buy the best compilation ever made right here?

The real point of interest here are the bands... and their songs, which have managed to do something almost impossible: create a compilation CD that doesn't wear out the "skip" button as you hop past the clunkers to reach the good stuff.
