There’s something new under the sun...
Where the sea meets the sky, somewhere between Santa Barbara and the island of Jamaica, comes The Sunshine Brothers; a feels-good-as-a cool drink at sunset on a summer beach, reggae-influenced collaboration between producer/songwriter Christopher Tyng and singer/songwriter Owen Plant.
The Sunshine Brothers—an upbeat mixture of reggae, surfer-pop, and world beat... music that evokes that certain intangible feeling of summertime euphoria, or “songs for drinking rum on a boat.â€
After playing some of the early demos to friends and acquaintances, interest began to build around the project. Music icon and friend David Crosby graciously laid down backing vocals for the track “Love Again.â€
The band is backed up by a full rhythm section and horns. Their Santa Barbara beach-side sound is rounded out by genre-bending influences such as The Police, Paul Simon, Bob Marley, Toots and the Maytals, Harry Belafonte, David Gray, and Norah Jones. The Sunshine Brothers’ debut album \"Live by the Sun\" is set for a Spring 2008 release.
So hit play, crack open a Red Stripe, pull up a palm tree and chill out in the laid-back, care-free world of The Sunshine Brothers.

Love Again

I've been following Chris Tyng's music since he started composing soundtracks for Hollywood and always hoped he'd have a band; Love Again is such a perfect song and to have D. Crosby singing backup is a gas, man! Only wish I could see them play live; I live way too far away... Looking forward to some laid back California percussion on the upcoming CD.

Take me to the BEACH!
author: Sam Sandmire
I'm up here in the cold mountains of Idaho. I put on the Sunshine Brothers and get transported to a warm, sunny beach in Santa Barbara. The smooth but upbeat songs make me feel the sunshine. I ordered the CD a few weeks ago & liked it so much, I just ordered 5 more for Christmas gifts. Pass the margaritas!
