"Is rock dead?" Those who would answer, "yes" probably lack a true understanding of what "rock" is. As the five guys in San Diego's Suntower would tell anyone willing to listen, rock is about letting loose; it's not about moping onstage and groaning about the state of the world, and it's not about trends. Rock is exhilarating in the same way a last-minute midnight trip across the desert to whoop it up in Vegas is exciting: it's about letting it all hang out.

-This is exactly what Suntower does onstage. Straight up, in your face, Hard Rock music breaking down those barriers of ear-wax leading to the stimulation of those nerves that cause your arms and limbs to flail about in an uncontrollable manner. If Suntower were asked to describe themselves in a descriptive and significant way, the answer would be, "Pure Rock." This is something Suntower is proud of, and something those who see them live thoroughly appreciate...an intangible energy that bonds band to audience in a crazy display of solid music played with complete conviction.

And "solid" music is an important concept in Suntower's world, too. No bad songs. Really. They get thrown out, as the members of Suntower understand the importance of song and are never willing to sacrifice song for individuality, technicality, tricky uniqueness, or, worst of all, ska (!). No, that would compromise the standard these five songwriters have worked so hard to establish.

Suntower's combination of incredible songwriting and spectacular live performance is the result of hard work. No one is related to Don Was or Quincy Jones, and the members of the band simply met through friends of friends and classified ads. Kevin found Bryan, Bryan and Kevin found Zed, and then Bryan and Kevin and Zed found Vince, only to leave one last spot that was filled by Jay. But the Average Joe story behind the creation of Suntower is not indicative of the chemistry that shines through; the four years the band has existed has created a brotherhood between these guys, with an underlying common goal of musical excellence and success serving as the solid foundation to their friendships.
