Album Notes
"The Superchief Trio are wonderful. THE DEVIL KNOWS ME BETTER, proves it. Sure, they're great musicians, but their strength comes from simplicity. Nothing is unnecessary, with Keith on piano, John on drums and Pam on trombone. See 'em live, as well. They sound just as good in person and their look will pull you in even more. Beautifully odd and way enjoyable to consume."
- Carl Finch, BRAVE COMBO

Pianist Keith Munslow met trombonist Pam Murray at Providence arts incubator AS220, where they performed together in the Smoking Jackets and the Neo 90s Dance Band. Keith and drummer Johnny Cote played together in the Big Nazo band, and soon Johnny became the drummer for the Neo 90s. Having cut their teeth on rough-and-tumble dance blues with the Smoking Jackets, Keith and Pam began playing gigs at a dim and smoky basement bar (now defunct) called The East Bay Regatta Club. Owing to safety in numbers, Johnny Cote was recruited, and Superchief Trio was born. The casual nature of the place and its heckling denizens encouraged recklessness and experimentation with new songs, new arrangements and inspired a higher level of daredevil musical abandon. Emerging from this subterranean honky-tonk, Superchief Trio continues the tradition of good-time music and barrelhouse hijinks.

By far one of the best Cd's I have had heard in a long time! Keith Munslow is a master of New Orleans style piano, writes clever songs and can sing his ass off That alone would be worthe the price, now combine that with the Teagardenesque bluesy trombone of Pam Murray and then you can't loose. But wait Pam has some of the best pipes you have ever heard she can belt out like Bessie Smith, and has the taste and phrasing of a seasoned pro twice her age. It is so refreshing the hear a female vocalist who really undrestands the lyric and does not fall into the typical over vibrato trick that so many current Blues Diva wannabes use. This is a great CD it is well recorded the band is tight (Kudos to John Cote) and the music is fresh and fast do yourself a favor just get it!

This Cd is great! A fun band that we saw play in Rhode Island. Wonderful to dance to also.
