Underneath the yarny skin of the wildlife we captured hobbling through the snow one winter morning was a message revealed when we flayed the beasts for pelt money: three penciled words, all of them Today.
Dear us! The album name stared us in the face. If anything, we desire for the collection of songs herein to be a flash of the present moment, whenever it is that you happen to be listening to it.
This album was constructed in a studio on our rural commune in Virginia. This, our second album, is a bit more experimental than the first. We tried out some new instruments like real drums and trombone, and packed the studio full of people singing as raukus choruses. (Thanks, people.) There is a pirate song, a murder ballad, a segue, a bunch of slide guitar, and some gimmicky headphone tricks.
We also included a new music video [for the song "Laura Elizabeth Treiselman"], as well as b sides and the entire works of our solo careers [in mp3 format]. Also, there are some short stories. There's a lot of them, but they really are very short individually.
Rachel Summer Tupelo is an underread writer. (You may Google her to increase her readness.) She likes to sing the vowel ahhh more than oooh, but oooh is okay if ahhh is preoccupied. She has hair.
John Catfish is the other half of SD. He loves treehouses, rope swings, and being underwater.

Thrice as nice as yesterday

Super Daughter carries it's charm through the pensive winter onto their second full-length album, Today Today Today (2005). A sharper sound and more guest musicians can be found here -- signs of a maturing pair no doubt. There is a distinctive carney flair with accordion-laden tracks like "Soil or a Boat" as this band sways back and forth experimenting with genres on the vessel that is homegrown indy music. Effortlessly intertwining ambient techno sounds with voice and guitar (and the occasional plastic kid's instrument), Today x 3 certainly has planted seeds of love in my heart. Beware, dear conscious buyer: this album carries 37 excellent hidden tracks (including John and Summer's solo work), a music video, and more extras! Surely enough to keep you entertained until tomorrow and the next day and the day after that...
