SUPERFORTRESS is the New York City Electro/Indie-Rock band lead by Japanese musician NAO. They have been performing in the Lower East Side for over 5 years, receiving acclaim from publications such as The Village Voice, and often compared to David Bowie, Duran Duran, and The Human League.
Originally “Nao’s Superfortress,” started performing in clubs with only his electric guitar and a sequencer. He quickly assembled the band with numerous local musicians; in 2004 he changed the name to SUPERFORTRESS and focused on 80’s flavored synth based pop-rock.
After releasing a self-titled album in 2005, SUPERFORTRESS made a promotional trip to Germany in February 2006 to perform at the famous White Trash Fast Food venue in Berlin. In the same year, they participated in a MTV Asia sponsored event & appeared at M.E.A.N.Y Fest & CMJ Music Marathon. The tune, "Missing People" was in heavy rotation on many collage radio stations.
Currently Nao performs with a drummer Brett Thompson and still using the same old sequencer that runs with a floppy disk.
