Album Notes

The group was conceived in 2003 out of the collaboration of two highly respected musicians working in the Spanish music scene: Luis García (Drummer and Percussionist) and the legendary bluesman Stevie Zee (Guitarist, Singer and Songwriter). Luis has recorded and performed with mythical Spanish rock bands such as Sobredosis and Ñu and the popular singer Ramoncín, and Stevie has earned international fame and respect as a solo artist and exceptionally gifted guitarist with the release of his two albums 'Wail' and 'Caballero'. The two were united in their love of rhythm and blues and respect for bands such as Tower Of Power, Earth Wind And Fire, The Average White Band and funk, r&b and soul music in general.
With the addition of other fine musicians they gave birth to Super Funky Express and exploded onto the music scene playing the top concert venues in and around Madrid offering their own versions of classic songs from the black music genre. As a result of the superb quality of the band and their fast growing reputation they were signed by Blubster Records to record an album of original songs. Contact was made with Molly Duncan saxophonist of the legendary group The Average White Band who was given charge of the role of producing the album as well as arranging and recording the horn section.
The result is one of the finest works to come out of Spain in recent times and gives the band the opportunity to climb to international level. The album captures the spirit of the greatest music of the seventies with production, sound and musicianship that recalls some of the finest moments of Earth Wind And Fire, Tower Of Power, The Commodores and Chicago. Without doubt a pleasure for lovers of great music.
And so the band prepares to hit the stage and perform live and direct with a simply spectacular line-up.

This CD can satisfy, disco bunnies, soul freaks, and even some easy listening fans and rock n rollers. These seven songs have a driving beat, funky rhythms, good lyrics, and loads of energy. I especially loved Super Funky Express and Moonlighting. The musicians are wonderfully soulful and earthy, great drumming & horns, terrific Stevie's Zee voice & guitar. My only issue is that there are just seven tracks here. Why couldn't the guys add on another track or two. Don't be Misled, pick this one up.
