Wow! Different, yet familiar!

I found that sometimes the best music is that which I might not have liked on first exposure. I first listened to this and it struck me as a throwback to the 70s...a bit too bubblegum for me. But I also heard the incredible musicianship and that sucked me to listen more. Incredible keyboard playing, really awesome. Great use of different sounds, including the Mellotron, one of my favorites. There is so much beneath the surface of this music! Listen to it, and listen to it again. It WILL grow on you! It has totally grown on me!

Nice little cd here,by that new Canadian band.Call it psychedelic, progressive ,Art rock or pop, this is fun music.Although the instrumentation can lead one to think that Joyride is a retro album,,that is not the case here.Sure, flute, sax, and analogue keyboards(mellotron)are used throughout the disc, but the bright melodies, catchy hooks, positive lirycs and all around good humor displayed by the band brings you back to 2004.Speaking of those bright melodies, they stick in your heads for days, after just a few spins, showing some sort of songwritting maturity, despite the fact that it's the band's fitst release. So if you're looking for that good time album with just enough complexity and musicianship to lift you up after a hard day's work, put this in your cd player and enjoy!
