The Surfacers, one of the first bands in the Argentinean underground music scene to perform pure instrumental surf music began in 1998, one day after making the decision to quit playing classic rock ‘n’ roll covers and start experimenting with the instrumental-reverb-drenched-guitar surf style.
After some time, several line up changes and under The Surfacers name; they start to hit the local scene with their first shows, which featured early versions to many of the original songs later recorded for their debut album, among wild renditions of such surf classics as Pipeline and Scalped.
The first Surfacers line up, which included Matías Torres and Sebastian Marino on guitars, Santiago Urueña on bass and Julio on drums, did several performances and cut some rough demo tapes until the departure of drummer Julio, who is replaced by Sebastián Romani (former Stonerwitch) on drums. This was the formation that entered the recording studio during middle 2003 to record their first album for Green Cookie Records. After the recording sessions were done, guitarist Sebastian Marino decides to leave the band due to musical and personal differences.
Now settled as a trio, The Surfacers started the year 2004 full out with the Wild Surf Tour through the Argentinean coast, rocking the beach with their reverberating tunes, and with the most-expected release of their self-titled debut album on April, through Green Cookie Records from Greece.
During the upcoming live performances of The Surfacers all over the Buenos Aires area, you could appreciate a broad range of influences, which blends with the classic surf styles for a truly unique listening experience.

Step into some serious liquid...

This band from Argentina isn't together anymore and that's really a shame. (I'm writing this review like they're still together.)
These four guys know their way around the big salty swimming pool, that's for sure. Guitarists Matias Torres and Sebastian Marino (he's gone) are incredible; you wouldn't want to mess with their kid sisters. These two are so guilty of abusing their guitars with reverb, whammy bar, vibrato and whatever else sadistic musical thing they can think of to do. Bassist Santiago Urena and drummer Sebastian Romani can't be playing with a full deck, either, to be in a band with Torres and Marino, but, the four of them sound like they're having the time of their lives and they play surf music that shows they know what they're doing. They're captains of the surf situation.
The entire CD is a dream come true of any instrumental surf/reverb fan out there and well-worth the money. BUY THIS CD!
Surfacers, please consider re-grouping...PLEASE!

I Like Reverb!
author: Cal
Don't be surprised if the cd is a little sticky when you pull it out of the case, that's just the extra reverb that was squeezed out when this disc was pressed. This is surf music with feeling. Deep bass lines combined with a full guitar sound make this a little different than you standard surf music. It has quicly climbed to number one on my list of all time favorite surf albums. Please buy this allbum and encourage these guys to record another!
