Sursumcorda (from Latin Sur Sum Corda “Lift up your hearts”) creates music that is a result of a search for an Italian musical style formed by the coming together of popular, ethnic and classical influences. They are passionate musicians who keep an intense concert schedule in clubs, cafes, festivals and theatres throughout Europe.
The band is made up of guitarist, multi-Instrumentalist Piero (Cirano) Bruni, Giampiero (Nero) Sanzari on vocals, classical guitar and other instruments, Francesco Saverio Gliozzi on cello and strings and Claudia Verdelocco on oboe, slide flute and English Horn. The album features a number of guest musicians on a wide and colorful range of instruments.
Sursumcorda’s accomplishments include:
• The title track from the new release won first place in RAI, Italy’s main radio/tv network.
• Their video for the song "Via", was broadcast for a month on the national TV channel AllMusic and received widespread praise and appreciation.
• Their song "Mi hanno perso" was selected by the LifeGate radio station (FM 105.1) for broadcasting during a special on new emerging groups.
• The band was recently chosen to compose the original soundtrack for the Milanese Diocesan Museum’s art exhibit “Carlo e Federico Borromeo. Itineraries.” and for the associated documentary about the life and influence of the Borromeo family in Italian culture.
Sursumcorda came to the attention of Passion Records director Chris Florio when he and his wife met the sister of band member Gliozzi at a wedding in New York. “We fell in love with Sursumcorda’s music as soon as we heard it and are very proud to be helping to bring this beautiful music to American audiences.”
