With a "distinctive alto voice" that makes you "feel in spite of yourself," Susan Souza, not only has an unforgettable name, but an unforgettable delivery of passion that pulls at your heart strings. Although she describes herself as, "a rocker at heart," Susan's music crosses musical boundaries and reflects her eclectic rock, pop, and progressive influences.
Originally from Massachusetts, Susan began performing as a teenager in Key West, Florida. Since then, she has entertained audiences up and down the East Coast from New England to Florida, in the Midwest and Northwest. Through the years, her career has taken many forms: as a solo artist, in acoustic duos, and as the lead singer of a band.
After taking a break, for numerous years, from performing and recording Susan came to realize that the inner peace creating and performing music offered was worth giving up the conventional securities she once longed for.
Susan resumed her music career in mid 2004 with her six-song EP release , “Can Be Found.” At the onset of 2005, Susan began performing solo, appearing at festivals, original-music venues, and songwriter showcases. Susan also has a repertoire of over 200 cover songs, spanning a variety of genres. She uses this list as a way to practice and keep from the habit of playing and writing the same way all the time.
In the Fall of 2005, Susan released her CD, “Inside and Outside,” for which she was a 2006 Outmusic Award nominee for Outstanding Debut Recording. Susan has also been recognized for her songwriting as a runner-up in the March 2006 Song of the Year contest. In addition, Susan's CD Inside and Outside has been in the top 10 of the OutVoice GLBT Top 40 Chart for 5 months in a row! (updated 11/06)www.outvoice.net
In addition to performing and recording, Susan is the founder, president, and CEO of Women's KISS (Kickass Independent Songwriter Showcase), which is presented annually in Provincetown, Massachusetts and around the country. The mission is to promote and emphasize the quality and diversity of independent female musicians from around the globe, while educating our audiences about the
contributions of these artists to the field of music, through a variety of multi-artist events.

Wow! This is an artist to watch out for. The only semi-negative thing I can say about this particular release is that her songs are much better that the musicians were able to relay. A testament that she is ahead of her time. I would not be surprised if Susan is being spun on numerous radio stations and plastered all over stages across the globe within the next 5 years. In my opionion, she's got something very different compared to what is going on in this genre today.

Enchanting and thoughtful songwriting coupled with feel good guitar. Susan's voice is not overpowering yet edgy and the harmonizing vocals nicely compliments each song. Inside and Outside & Wildflowers are some favorite tracks. Looking forward to Susan's next album..thanks.

Inside and Outside totes the bulk..
author: Piebald Music
The power of folk music has always been known to carry substance, emotional indiscretion, direction, love, and of course, inevitably shaping some sort of poetic focus upon your life, and perhaps the simple truth about it. Susan Souza's INSIDE AND OUTSIDE totes the bulk.
CAN WE mildly explicates itself as the album's anthem. "Can we experience the first time after the first time?" are words that linger like good advise you are meant to hear. YOU ARE THE ONE is eager to unfold and opined with traditional style at just the right level for INSIDE AND OUTSIDE to kick you back in, the rare tick essential to keeping all the peices glued.
WILDFLOWERS,delicate and beautiful, seems to acquaint itself with an often encountered sound, but doesn't fall short of working out that "gut hurt" that makes you want to listen again and again.
On a road of fanfaronade songwriters singing about falling too fast, prosaic identities, and thoughts deeper than space, one is easily overcome with the familiar drinking your coffee from the same mug every morning feeling. Fortunately for artists like Susan Souza, we can count on discovering that tiny thread of distinction. With this album, Susan has found a way to harvest a natural spirit of what seems to really matter or maybe what shouldn't, either way, on INSIDE AND OUTSIDE, her voice allows her to pick and choose from both.
