Album Notes

A fine jazz singer, the Brooks sound gives new meaning to familiar lyrics, turns old favorites into fresh, exciting musical experiences. Her classy brand of jazz bridges the gaps between generations. A smooth, mature and trained voice that delivers sultry, sophisticated, and dynamic jazz, passionate, and is known for moving Gospel and a truly vast repertoire of familiar and less well known standards, jazz tunes, R&B pop and a little Country in her own style and arrangements. 2 CDs are currently on sale, 2 more being recorded.

She is a stylistic link among an array of singers, from the earthiness of Dinah Washington & Nina Simone and the searing emotions of Billie Holliday & Sarah Vaughan to the humor and electricity of Blossom Dearie & Annie Ross and a wide range of other legendary jazz vocalists Rosemary Clooney, Carmen McCrae, Astrud Gilberto & Ella Fitzgerald .

Suzanne Brooks is a vocalist, writer, hula dancer, activist, educator, entrepreneur, owns Creative Concepts Systems and the International Association of women of Color Day. She is a writer whose literary work can be sampled online at www.authorhouse.com. She is also an actress and sings in several languages. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she has extensive education, including vocal training.

Since recording Even Sad Memories Are Sweet, with Eric Tillman, Brooks formed her own band, The Jazz Generation." The Jazz Generation musicians are a superb trio including Rolin Shafer on keyboard, and Chris Lentine on bass-each outstanding in his own right, performing exciting solos with dynamic combinations of wisdom, experience & purity. The atmosphere of The Jazz Generation is a positive thing to experience-a diversified group that swings, is fun and wonderful to observe. She will also release a new single, her own composition--"Listening To The Radio" before the end of 2005. She wrote the lyrics and music and got help with the arrangement help from Michele Weir.

The music makes me feel like I am on a beach. The music is very relaxing. It is very professional. This CD sounds better than many of the songs on Smooth Jazz KSSJ. You should buy these CDs. The voice of the singer is very beautiful like Lena Horne. She has a classic voice and is never outdated.
