Album Notes

Canada, Suzie McNeil is coming home. After a year of living in Los Angeles, recording her first album, singing a duet with JD Fortune on “Switch”, another duet with Clay Aiken, and touring as a back up singer for PINK, she is ready for her turn in the spotlight as one of Canada’s premiere singers.

As one of the top 4 finalists and the last woman standing on 2005’s RockStar: INXS, “Sweet Suzie McNeil” quickly became a household name thanks to the popular reality series. Immediately following the show, she met A&R guru John Koldner (the man responsible for superstars Peter Gabriel, Foreigner, and Aerosmith) and “A” List producer Marti Fredericksen (Mick Jagger, Aerosmith, Faith Hill) and began to record her debut cd, due out in Canada in April 2007 via Curve/Universal Music Canada. In addition to releasing her debut CD, Suzie will be appearing in the Toronto production of the hit stage production of “We Will Rock You” at the Canon Theatre (starts March 14, with official opening night on April 10).

Her song “Believe” has been the promotional theme for the hit NBC weight-loss reality show “The Biggest Loser” and is now available on iTunes, although the first official single “Hung Up” has been released to Canadian commercial radio and is climbing the charts like a heat-seeking missile!

A native of Toronto, but a citizen of everywhere, Suzie is a powerful and versatile artist. She is that rarest of combinations; a magnetic stage presence with multi-instrumental and vocal talents. Born into a musical family, Suzie was raised singing with her mother and sister, learning to collaborate from an early age. Her drive and confidence are only matched by a tireless work ethic and peerless talent. “I am a workaholic and control freak and I’m ok with that” says McNeil “it’s the kind of work ethic you need to succeed”.

“Broken and Beautiful” was recorded at Poppy Studios in Monrovia, California, produced by Marti Frederiksen, and features Suzie working with a number of songwriters among them Kara DioGuardi (Santana, Christine Aguilera, Pussycat Dolls), Goo Goo Doll’s Johnny Reznick, and Pink.

“I’ve had one hell of a year” says McNeil. “I loved touring with Pink, but finally had to turn down the European leg of the tour so I could take a breath and make plans for my own album release.

“Recording this album was a life changing experience” says Suzie. “I really feel like I walked out of the studio with something for everybody. It was such a joy to work with all these talented people, and now I have to make good”.
