Features Jon Miller’s revelational language poetry backed by mathmatical synth arrangements and emBROWNLOWe’s title track closure embedded in a lo-fi solo acoustics. Sandwiched between two solo contributions, Swallows come together with producer Josh Gross bringing you the theoretical montage tribute to Lyn Hejinian’s book, ‘My Life’, with “Hejinian Hymn” and the power pop comeback of “Last Call”.
Swallows is a postmodern psychemotive rock duo hailing from Portland Oregon. Since 2003, they have played numerous shows in the northwest with regional artists such as Anna Oxygen, Jen Wood, Niki Click, Rebecca Gates and Emily Herring. They were also featured on Portlands cable access show, The Politics of Dance, and were awarded Radio Star status on Church of Girl Radio in January 2006.
Front woman Em Brownlowe has a compelling emotive live personal with a voice that is clear and powerful with an impressive range of style and mood. Jon Miller takes an atypical approach to keeping the beat with a unique blend of tom heavy power percussion and dance-worthy cymbal crashing. Together they create songs that contain a wide variety of stylistic influences ranging from pop, math rock, blues, garage, metal and experimental art rock.
