Album Notes

Though the Swamees are firmly rooted in San Francisco, their music sounds as if it drifted off some Louisiana swampland. The band mixes folk subtlety, greasy chicken-shack funk, and country swagger in a pig iron cauldron of molten rock psychedelia. The whole thing would go nicely with chicken fried steak and a side of watermelon at a backyard BBQ.

The Swamees are JUSTIN ACHZIGER on drums and vocals, DAN MARCUS on lead guitar and vocals, DENNIS MOORE on rhythm guitar and vocals, and MATT YATES on bass and vocals. All four members contribute to writing songs that pay homage to the traditional without being redundant. The tribal intensity of the rhythm section lays a solid foundation for the rich vocal harmonies and incendiary guitar work. The Swamees aren't a jam band per se but at times the raw emotion of these four individuals simply cannot be contained in the three minute song format. The resulting convergence is a long, drawn out musical landscape that stretches from the brutal to the serene and all places in between.

The Swamees' Full Blooded Mutt is Roots Rock and Soul

This CD RULES! Just some goo old southern rock and roll with a modern twist. Everytime you think you know what's coming next you are pleasantly surprised. They throw in a little country twang, some swamp funk, and some old school Floydish kinda stuff. Brilliant! The thing hasn't left my player since I got it. Love the cover.
