Album Notes

Swanky Hotel

The new musical project from the creative trio of Cole Wheeler (guitar), Francine Wheeler (lead vocals and keyboards) and Darryl Gregory (bass) that puts together thought provoking lyrical content with edgy, folk-tinged rock. The group's members are all seasoned veterans of the NYC music scene. All three have honed their songwriting skills as solo performers and their instrumental and vocal chops with other diverse musical projects from avante garde world music to the Broadway musical. With Justin Hines on set and percussion and Amie Bermowitz harmonizing on background vocals, Swanky Hotel has put together a sound that hooks the audience from the downbeat.

Check In & see your reflection sipping cava in a 5-star suite
author: Poor Henry
Check into this dive & see your reflection sipping cava in a five star suite. Champagne, flowers, room service---the staff at Swanky Hotel aim to please. COLD COMFORT SONGS' Darryl Gregory has teamed up with the musical equivalent of Dashiell Hammett's Nick & Nora Charles. Namely, singer Francine Wheeler & songwriting hubby, David Cole Wheeler. On Teacup(It's Your Birthday), Mrs. Wheeler evokes the same allure found in those classic Film Noir nightclub chanteuses. On Open Eyes, she'll send a shiver up your spine. On Lesson No. 1, she'll crack you up as she shows you who's boss. Behind the scenes, the songwriting skills of Darryl Gregory & Cole Wheeler hold it all together like super glue. Mr. Wheeler's Open Eyes is as tragic as Leave A Light On is hopeful. It Will Find You is as reluctantly optimistic as Brass Ring is scathing. Darryl Gregory's pen truely shines on the heartstopping ballad, Eyes Of Hazel Green. So if you're looking for a bubbly cocktail of bon mots, cut with a dash of woe, here's your Martini. So tip the staff on your way out & count yourself among the lucky.
