Album Notes

Maui based singer/songwriter Gail Swanson has released her fifth CD and this one is loaded with special guests, and ten great songs. Doobie Brother Pat Simmons produced three of the songs and also plays guitar and sings backup. Pat lined up top notch talent featuring Hutch Hutchinson on bass, John McFee on dobro. Michael McDonald on keyboard, and more. Mike McDonald produced and sang on "End of the World", also playing keyboards and ukulele on that sweet little track. Gail and her friend Cris Simmons wrote "The One That Got Away" which Willie Nelson fell in love with and offered to sing as a duet. Because of her love for the planet, and for Italy and the Italian language, Gail co-wrote "Un Richiamo a Madre Terre" (A Prayer for Mother Earth) with her friend/Italian teacher Chelsea Hill. A song about domestic violience titled "Eggshells" was written for a Maui organization, Women Helping Women. Mid Air is a relationship song about communication with a cool acoustic guitar groove. A blues tune called "Here to There" features Maui guitarist Tom Conway. "Half a Heart" is a love song, and features Willie Nelson on guest vocals. (released originally on Gail's 4th CD) Titled "Simple Truth" as Gail writes about her own life, and her own truth in these heartfelt and honest songs.
