Deep in the Heart of Reality shines a Light that is liberating humans from suffering and bondage, and is Happiness Itself.
Swaybone is a Bay Area band that has morphed and struggled through several incarnations over an 22 year period. Swaybone has been inspired by several great musical movements, and has finally found its own original voice, a style that you could call "Mystic Rock". This music is a soundtrack for the great awakening of our planet.
Certain influences stand out for harnessing the healing and uplifting power of music to unique heights. These include the Beatles, Pink Floyd, U2, Bob Dylan, the Police, Peter Gabriel, the Clash, Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, and Bob Marley. They all embody a progressive humanist agenda, and in some cases, a transcendent spiritual vision. We have always envisioned doing something similar with our music, by combining great songwriting and melody, with the experience of reciprocal love between band and audience, and adding the spiritual message that singer/guitarist/songwriter Theo Cedar derives from his relationship to his Spiritual Teacher, Adi Da Samraj.
In addition, all of the above influences have been infused by our mutual love for some of the great hard rock music that came out of the 90's, including Alice in Chains, Soundgarden and Tool. This synthesis has been a difficult one to create, for although we love the hard rock music of this era, we had to leave a lot of the darkness and anger of its message behind.
Swaybone is not Christian Rock, but is sympathetic to the Original Truth that resides in Christianity and all the World's religions. The Swaybone message includes a vision of the transcending of ego, which is the ultimate means of reducing and preventing the worst of humanity's self-made problems of war, violence, un-love and un-happiness.
Swaybone has played over 150 shows throughout the West Coast, including L.A. (the Whiskey-a-Go-Go), Seattle (the Bumbershoot Festival), Chico (Nowhere by Nowhere), Portland, Lovefest, the Dingus Festival, and clubs throughout the Bay Area, including Bottom of the Hill, the Stork Club, Bourbon Street in Concord, and Pine Street in Livermore.
Swaybone has just released its 3rd CD, "Sacred Anatomy" with 11 original new songs, recorded at their recording studio, Orange Sky, in Hayward, with Theo Cedar producing. In 2000 Swaybone released a 9 song CD called "Burning Life"; one song, "Feast", from Burning Life reached #19 on Garageband.com's alternative Top 100. In 1995, Swaybone released a 5 song CD called "Careless with Matches", which received a positive critical response.
Singing lead for Swaybone is Theo Cedar Jones. Together, Swaybone will bring their unmistakable love, vision and hit songs to a world-wide audience.
