Introducing... The Sweetback Sisters! This young group of pie-eyed plunkers perform an broad array of traditional old-time & honky-tonk music reminiscent of the 1950s. With their hot licks and sweet girl-on-girl harmonies they're sure to warm the heart of any of you modern day cowboys and girls!
The Sweetback line-up features the lavish and lovely voices of Zara Bode and Emily Miller with an all-star cast of instrumentalists, including West Virginian triple threat Jesse Milnes on guitar, fiddle and harmony vocals; sweet slappin' Joseph Dejarnette (of the WIYOS) on bass; Vermont wonderboy Stefan Amidon on drums; and Philly's stringed slayer Ross Bellenoit on rippin' Telecaster and lap steel!
Though this is The Sweetback Sisters first release (a short and sweet 6-song EP entitled "BANG!") the wild bunch is taking the country scene by storm! They have two successful tours under their belts and are honored (and blown away!) to have been picked as finalists on A Prairie Home Companion's 2007 "Talented Twenty-Somethings" contest! (Tune in for the April 21st Broadcast & vote!)
Pick up a CD today, so tomorrow you can swoon while they croon the country classics!

Can't get enough of a great thing: Retro country at its finest! Encore! Encore!

Like much of the world, I first heard the Sweetback Sisters on "A Prairie Home Companion." I bought "Bang!" the very next day, and enjoyed every minute of it. These women are top-notch vocalists, harmonizing their way through an eclectic cache of old-style Country music. Backed by a capable ensemble, the Sisters deliver six tracks spanning a range of styles, from a rapid-fire torch song (Everlovin') to an embittered slow waltz (I've Forgotten More). It's all care-free, fun-lovin' stuff--the kind of old-style retro delight that makes anti-country suburban boys like me see the light. Alas, the six-track "EP" offers far too little time to spend with this pair. When do we get a full album, ladies?
