Weaving harmonies, girl-next-door lyrics and billowing chords are what you'll hear from Sweet Hello, a Chicago-based folk-pop band, created by Laura Doherty and Cat Edgerton, who presented the release of their debut CD, Well of Wishes, in June 2004.
Laura and Cat met at the venerable Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago and started playing music together in 2002. Armed with their acoustic and electric guitars, the duo has rounded out the band with drummer Jason Toth (The Zincs, Fruit Bats) and native New Yorker John Abbey (David Poe, John Cale) on bass, who produced the CD as well.
Sweet Hello's new recording covers a lot of ground, gently moving in several musical directions. In an array of melodic pop songs, straight-ahead rock tunes and stripped-down ballads, you'll hear a smattering of cello, violin, accordion, bodhran and washboard. And Cat's mandolin playing on several tracks gives a rootsy flavor to their sound. Through this 14-song journey, Laura and Cat's intimate and honest voices shine through.

This CD popped up as a reccomendation so I went for it. I had never heard or heard of Sweet Hello before this. They are fabulous and it has become one of my favorite CD's to put on and sit on my deck overlooking the lake on a starry night with a nice glass of wine!
