Continuing in the footsteps of past indie greats, Washington D.C.'s Sweet Interference are the latest in a long line of talented indie-rock groups to emerge from the president's backyard.
Sweet Interference is composed of Chris Cortelyou (drums/guitar/vocals), Moira Annelin (vocals/moog), Nicole DeMambro (vocals/keyboard) Alex Marsh (bassist), Mick Sexton (lead guitar). The group came together through a combination of Craigslist and old-fashioned tryouts.
Sweet Interference has been described as Rilo Kiley crossed with Weezer. Their music is melodic indie-rock reminiscent of early Pixies and Modest Mouse with a hint of The Rentals. Their songs deal with themes of frustration in the modern world. "We are frustrated with life and the situations we've gotten ourselves into," explains Chris, "and we can commiserate with you because we know you are frustrated too."
Sweet Interference's second full length album We Never Draw Hearts Anymore released in February 2009 release. The album covers topics from asking for a business loan to wanting to be with someone unattainable. The music is lyrically significant with forward driving guitar riffs and bass lines. The group's debut, Losing the Highway was released in December 2007.

Great album by a great DC band
author: Jenny
This album couples interesting vocal and guitar melodies with melancholy, relatable lyrics. At times reminiscent of the Jefferson Airplane and bands of that era, but with a distinctly modern feel. If you like Wilco, Liz Phair, The Rentals or upcoming bands with a unique sound, give them a try.
