Album Notes

About the EP:
Multi-Track Drifting started out as a favour from a friend which turned into the makings of an album. It combines four high caliber players in Steve Clark who released 9 albums with Vibrolux and The Premiums, Ben Huband of Benjamin, Randy James who released 2 albums with the Cat House Dogs, and featuring special guest Jerome Godboo of The Phantoms, who has played with, among others, Prince, Ronnie Hawkins and Jack de Keyzer.

Behind the scenes:
We recorded "Better for the Crime" which was more like a country song when we initially sat down with it. However, later that night, while getting my daughter Libby to bed, I sang a new bluesy melody along with a whole set of lyrics, something about a guy convincing his girl to pull a bank robbery, or maybe, he's just breaking up with her, you decide.
We kept the acoustic from my GarageBand demo and, in the end, laid down a very Zepplonic arrangement. Before moving on with any other songs, We brought it to Ewan Fernie's state-of-the-art studio, the Bear Den, to see if the drums were "at a level".

Everything seemed to check out nicely, so, we went back and laid down "Get on Something Good" - a song inspired on hot August afternoon sipping ale and watching my children play by the beach. Benny nailed the bass groove so nicely that I nearly lost my mind. The velvet tapestry of the guitar rhythms that Stevie laid down is worthy of headphones.

"The Wanderer" was inspired by a Cat House Dogs jam and provided a perfect backdrop for the legendary Gerome Godboo to step in and show us what it means to be the best at what you do. He took the song from here (me with my hand at my chest) to here (me with my hand above my head). This song - from beginning to end - grabs you and doesn't let you go. Get on your best walkin' shoes my friend!

"Movin On" is an ode to Michelle, my lady - and, of course, the Rolling Stones who are a taste, once acquired, delicious.
