AKA: “Sweet Lamb”
Lauren McLean-Britt, “Sweet Lamb,” is one of Boston’s own rising gospel artists. She is a graduate of Emerson College in Boston, MA, where she studied the Performing Arts. But long before her college days, Lauren had been “belting the songs” since the tender age of five years old. Lauren’s love for music and singing has always been encouraged by family and friends and lovingly nurtured by the Church.
As a teenager, she participated in the Garthenia Beal Gospel Ensemble of Concord Baptist Church in Boston under the direction of Minister Freda Battle. “Freda taught me early on,” Lauren states, “that it’s not just enough to love the music, but you’ve got to be dedicated to putting in the time to learn all you can about the music.” Lauren also recalls about her early role model, “Freda always stayed focused and serious about her music, and she was committed to making sure that the Beal Gospel Ensemble sang those songs RIGHT! It’s no doubt that I’ve been influenced by one of gospel’s very best.”
Over the years, Lauren has showcased her vocal talent through her commitment to church and community choirs, and through performances in local musical theatre productions of “Raisin,” “Your Arms Are Too Short to Box with God,” and the “Wiz.” Though musical theatre is one of Lauren’s favorite pastimes, it cannot compare to the joy she derives from singing God’s praises through contemporary and traditional gospel songs. “I’ve found my niche or should I say my gift has made room for me,” she says quoting a familiar scripture from Proverbs 18:16.
Make room indeed, for Lauren’s debut gospel CD album,
“In Spite of the Rain”. It is a soul stirring, foot stompin’ collection of heart-felt original songs written by the “Sweet Lamb” gospel artist herself. “These songs express victory in Christ Jesus, in spite of the curve balls life throws our way,” says Lauren. “I pray this project is a blessing to all who will take the time to listen.”

Each cut on the CD has its own special message and style. Everyone can relate to the music because it is so down to earth with our daily living. It is a tender reminder for us to have faith in God, care about others, praise God each and everyday for the things He does in our lives, and know that we will see our loved ones again when it is our time for God to welcome us home. It is inspirational and a great way to start each day, whether listening at home while getting dressed for work, or on the way to work. I even listen to it while I'm in the office at work. It is a reminder that we should have spiritual goals on this earth that will make our Creator proud.
