It's all about chemistry. The science of matter. Properties and reactions. Sweet Talk Radio is the musical team of Kathrin Shorr & Tim Burlingame. Their new record, "My Hallelujah", much like the lyrical images it references – Hank Williams, the mighty Mississippi River or the changing current of a love affair – is full of strength and vulnerability. With undeniable chemistry both on and off stage, STR create americana-pop songs full of depth and yearning delivered with passion and an earnest desire to connect.

Fabulous!

And getting more fabulous the more I listen! Not only is the writing first rate, the performance top-shelf, but the recording production is inspired. The more I listen the more I discover little sonic treats: voices panned far left and right; mandolins too; harmonies that vibrate the 'oh man, sweet' nerve; the banjo solo smack dab where I was expecting Tim's electric guitar; and strings..oh yes the strings, close this thing out lifting you right out of your chair! All of which supports lyrics that are intelligent, sexy, textural, and witty. This is a great disk. Listen to it with really good headphones and be prepared to experience a real jewel!

Simply beautiful!

This CD is a must-buy. As people and musicians, I have been a long-time fan. Their music is inspiring, soothing, and memorable. This CD is a yet another testament to their talents and strengths. I have listened to this CD endlessly and it is a must-have to any respectable collection. My faves are "My Hallelujah," "Leaving for Memphis," and "Ballad of Hank Williams." Thank you, STR!

"My Hallelujah" Too
author: David Phelps-Zink
If you’re a fan of Kathrin Shorr and Tim Burlingame, you already know they are among the most compelling indie talents L.A. has to offer.
The solo debut CDs of both – Tim’s "Meeting Hall" and Kathrin's "The Seed" – demonstrated a keen sense for that connection of Americana song and infectious Pop. Each makes their own superb song-craft magic in performance, too: Kate with her strong, feel-it-in-your-stomach vocals and bone sure acoustic guitar rhythms; Tim's breathy vocals and breathtaking guitar work. Backing each other at L.A. venues and house concerts, they became much, much larger than the sum of individual talents. It was just a matter of time until the Shorr-Burlingame thing became its own force.
Get ready to say, "I knew them when..." Welcome to Sweet Talk Radio, and their debut CD, "My Hallelujah".
This is mature, passionate and well-crafted work that is destined to stand with the best indie or major label releases this year. “My Hallelujah” surveys the Hallelujah of lovers, and the many places in the heart to which love leads.
From the opening (title) track we are carried from tune to tune in sure arms. This music rests in Americana, Pop, and R&B turfs, and the production values are spot on. Kate's vocals are primary, and Tim's artful arrangements and backing vox perfectly match the demands of mood, text and genre.
The album is graced by performances of top-talents, notably Dan Lutz (bass), Tom Prasada-Rao (viola, violin) and Dennis Hamm (keyboards, bass and orchestral samples). Matt Forger’s mixing and mastering genius brings the effort to the high sonic level it deserves.
"My Hallelujah" announces the enormous potential of Sweet Talk Radio, and is sure to live in many a collection for years to come. It will never leave mine.
