Skilled percussion, frenetic guitars, and impassioned, intelligent vocals are the foundation of Skeletons with Flesh on Them’s debut EP, The Fish Don’t Mind.

A melodic, driving rock album, The Fish Don’t Mind is the unpretentious sound of loud amps in cramped garages, the meaningful melancholy that you’d find reading a good book in some dimly lit dive bar.

Four transplants to Seattle, guitarist Neal Flaherty, drummer Devon Stewart, bassist Lucas Smith and singer Scott Roots started playing together in 2005 with the premise that creativity outweighed chops; intensity trumped image. A collaboration of ideas and energy, Skeletons with Flesh on Them quickly developed a style all their own, integrating the urgency of early Modest Mouse, the personality of Pavement, the guitar rock sounds of Built to Spill.

For Skeletons with Flesh on Them, a rock song can be a smart rock song; a smart rock song can be adventurous too. The Fish Don’t Mind is the sound of simple, earnest passion being compounded by hard-work and time, and the result is a young band exceptionally confident in what they’re saying.
