Album Notes

During the Great Depression and World War II eras of the 1930's and '40's swing music emerged as an American art form and became a social catalyst, bringing people together in celebretion of better times to come. Ballrooms filled to capacity with dancers swinging to the sounds of the Big Bands.

The Swing Kings are proud to bring back this good-time music and invite you to dance and enjoy the excitement and romance of those swinging times.

Recorded live with todays techonolgy, this high energy, chrystal clear recording is a favorite among swing dancers and big band fans.

Singer and bandleader Ron Alan has drawn together a fantastic host of musicians, including; Gary Herbig on tenor sax, who's played with Elvis Presley, Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson; Lee Thornburg on trumpet from Tower of Power, and Huey Lewis', Rod Stewart's and Ringo Starr's bands; Garett Adkins on trombone played with Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen and Natalie Cole; Eric Wangensteen on trumpet has performed with the Gene Krupa big band.

The rhythm section includes: bass player Ralph Carter who played with Eddie Money for six years; Robert Beifuss on guitar, winner of the San Francisco Bay Critics Award for musical direction in theater; Mike Telesmanick on piano who has performed with jazz greats Jack De Johnette, Joe Pass and vocal group, the Manhattan Transfer; and on drums Dean Giles.

This CD instantly took me back to a Swing Kings live performance I enjoyed a few weeks ago. I play it often and love it every time! They just don't write music like they used to!!

Check these guys' IDs. They were obviously born in the wrong era! If it wasn't for the fact that this is on CD, you'd think this was recorded in the 1940s. First-class music and vocals deliver faithful versions of these swing classics. A great choice!
