Hi everyone! This is Jim Ziegler, welcoming you to the second CD by The Swingsations! I’m really excited about this recording and I do hope that you enjoy it. As the title says, there is a great mix of classic swingers like Stompin’ At The Savoy and Sweet’s Georgia ( my original on Sweet Georgia Brown ), and fun novelty numbers like The Music Goes ‘Round and Around, featuring yours truly and the irrepressible
Lee “Westy” Westenhofer on some zany vocalizing. Of course, there’s also our featured tribute to Don Redman, one of the pioneers of big band jazz and an unsung hero of the 1920’s and 30’s. I’ve chosen two of his great tunes from his time with the McKinney’s Cotton Pickers band, Cherry and Gee Baby, Ain’t I Good To You? - we conclude the tribute with a song from Don’s orchestra of the 1930’s, How’m I Doin’?,
another great novelty tune. There’s something for everyone here…scat singing, craziness, great jazz playing, even a little Dixieland with the Jazz Me Blues.
