Album Notes

January 2007 saw the release of Chris Swinney’s third CD entitled…”Major 3rd”. His influences are as apparent as ever but his melodies, lyrics and arrangements all carry his original style. There is certainly no marked change in direction from his previous CD, “Was it something I said?” with the songs being at least as strong...and hard-hitting in places! The opening track, “Out of my life”, is a rousing, catchy power pop song, “Just when I thought”, is a beautiful and thoughtful ballad, “Guise of conservation” is the cynical, scathing song of the album, “Something in Rennison’s pies” is a quirky nod to the local sound as played by bands such as Lindisfarne and, “Without wheels”, is inspired by a pilot’s superb landing of a private jet - regardless of the absence of landing gear!
If you’re a fan of well-crafted pop/rock with no padding, then this is definitely worth a listen!
