Synapse Tapestry is a primarily instrumental artist. Its sole member has performed as a jazz bassist (though it may be challenging to pick out any overt jazz in this disc), a keyboardist/synthesist, and a theater sounds effects engineer. Simultaneous work with hard rock bands further influenced the creative output, resulting in a mishmash called Synapse Tapestry and its first volume, Pass the Shadow.
