Jeff Tain Watts has assembled one of the most pre-eminent musical outfits that the jazz community has seen in recent time. The band Tain & the Ebonix is made up of: Jeff Tain Watts on drums, Christian McBride on bass, Marcus Strickland on saxophones, and David Kikoski on piano.
The new release, Folk's Songs on Dark Key Music, includes ten tracks that are dedicated to friends and influences that have inspired Tain throughout his life. The group is joined on several tracks by special guests David Gilmore on guitar, Henry Hey on keyboards, Samuel Torres on percussion, and a VERY special vocal appearance by Juan Tainish.
This debut release on Dark Key Music will easily mark as one of the best jazz albums of 2007.
