Album Notes

“A Chance to Dream”, Tajci’s new lullaby album is finally ready to ship. The new CD includes 15 new recordings for bedtime listening. The disc features new compositions, some old favorites, some traditional tunes from Tajci’s own childhood in Croatia, and a new take on a favorite Gershwin classic.

According to Tajci, the album is “dedicated to all the kids out there— big and small, boys and girls— and their parents, who never cease to be excited about bed-time stories and lullabies.”

New songs penned by Tajci include “George”, “Wynken, Blynken and Nod”, “Ni-na Na-na” and “Little One”. Traditional favorites include “All the Pretty Little Horses”, “Hush Little Baby”, “Raisins and Almonds” and a couple of Disney classics— “Feed the Birds” and “A Dream is a Wish”. Tajci has re-interpreted the usually steamy Gershwin standard “Summertime” to highlight the gentle, nurturing side of the lyrics.

Those who follow Tajci closely have been hearing about this project for some time now. What started out as a “nice little project”—begun when her newest baby, Blais, was still in the womb— turned into something much larger. Working with longtime collaborator, producer Denny Bouchard, Tajci has been writing, arranging and recording this project for two years. In the process, it became her most elaborate recording (with sessions in Los Angeles, Chicago and Cincinnati)... and her most satisfying.

This project also marks the first collaboration between Tajci and engineer Erwin Musper, who also mastered the final recording. Musper, a respected veteran of the music industry who has worked with the likes of David Bowie and Elton John, has captured all the beauty and clarity of Tajci's voice.

"A Chance to Dream" is Tajci's most polished recording to date, with arrangements and instrumentation that not only fit the songs, but highlight and complement her remarkable voice. The piano, guitar and strings are georgeous, and there are tasty little instrumental treats around every turn. Even the packaging is sumptuous, with beautiful photos and a fold-out jacket design by Jack Gorton, featuring Tajci's moon and stars doodles. The love and care that went into this project are obvious from the first notes. It's music that is sure to make many a child's bedtime memories last a lifetime.

Perfect. A beautiful album. I work in the newborn ICU here at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Someone donated this album to all our infants (about 45 at this moment.) I am sitting in my patient's room and have your CD palying. It has put him to sleep, but I am still here to listen to the rest of the album! I decided to "google" you and am now hoping to come see you when you visit St. Antonius in May. I can't wait to get your other albums and share them with my family. God Bless. tracy
