Album Notes

Los Angeles DJ/Producer TAKE returns to the scene for his third and best release to date. 'Third Story' is 28 minutes of instrumental downtempo hip-hop that appeals to fans of Madlib, Fat Jon, RJD2 and Prefuse 73. Armed with a sampler and dusty milk crates, TAKE crafts an organic sound collage thick in layers and rich in melody. This eight song EP has a little something for everyone. 'Some ill shit. Tracks that sooth, holler and don't disappoint. Set a date with this one!' - Jointz Magazine 'LA based producer TAKE puts junk in the trunk of the hip-hop low-rider, awakening the soul roots of modern hip-hop' - XLR8R Magazine. 'Strokes of psychedelics cut in a downbeat haze like a clashing of DJ Shadow and Boards of Canada in Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. The suprise record of the week' - CMJ.

Big Fan!

I'm a big fan of Take because of the "Earthtones & Concrete" album. I was quite happy to found (what I think is) his early work here at CD Baby. "Pieces of the puzzle" and "Third Story" are great. A bit more Jazz I think but still groovy downtempo stuff. Yeah!

Nice downbeat album with cool snippets of modern hip hop, minimal techno and psychedelica.
